The starting point for the MTB tour Sierra Solana is in Benissa, to where we take the shuttle bus from Javea. Once the mountain bikes have been unloaded and we are ready to ride, we start via small roads and gravel slopes to enter the Sierra Solana. Once there, a 5 km long ascent on gravel leads upwards with an average gradient of 6%. To the left there is a fantastic view of the coastal region and the hills in front of it.
After the first ascent we reach a viewing platform, time for a short break. A drink and a banana for sure help for the remaining elevation that is still ahead of us. Arriving at the top we see the entrance of the first trail and in the background the Sierra Bernia with its rugged rock massifs.
On the trail, we start our descent. The first 800 meters are just limestone outcrop and sediments, making it a bumpy ride. After that, the trail gets better and better and we pick up speed. Rocky passages, rocky steps and a touch of smooth sloping sections.
As we ride you should also keep an eye on the surrounding mountains, because the view up here is awesome. After a few kilometers, the trail ends on a backroad and it’s time for a break. We head to a bar, where there are refreshing drinks and local specialities.
From here it is only a few meters to the entrance of the next trail. And again, it’s time to lower our saddles and off we go. With an ever-lasting smile we reach the lower area of the pine forest, still full of adrenaline we are back on the road. A 1500-metre-long climb follows, after which we find ourselves on the next single track. This trail is more sloping and playful, the bikes zoom downhill over a perfect combination of curves and slopes. Right before Calpe, the trail fun ends.
Behind us lie almost 15 km of pure riding fun, which gave us a lasting memory. From here we return to Benissa via small roads and short sloping trails.
Breaks for drinks and/or photos can be customized.
